Frequently Asked Questions

What ages are you accepting?

We are currently interviewing leaders and their families ages 5-13 years (K-7th/8th) in our founding education year (September 2025 to June 2026). Apogee Bend will launch with a mixed age classroom and age mix will ultimately be decided after interviewing families. Our long term vision is to offer an education system that will serve young leaders ages 5-18.

Where are you located?

Apogee Bend does not currently have a location. We are talking with both commercial real estate agents as well as local community centers to find our launch location. Join our contact list to get updates on our location. We expect to lease a space for 2-5 years before breaking ground on a campus of our own.

Is Apogee Bend a Montessori School?

No. Apogee Bend respects and incorporates Maria Montessori's philosophies but we are not a Montessori School. In addition to Montessori methods for our young leaders (ages 5-7), we incorporate physiology from Physiology First, interactive technology for self-paced academics, hands on projects and Socratic Method for discussions. In addition, we intend on doing community based workshops to enhance the education experience. We will have guests who are experts in the culinary arts, health, self defense, finance, survival, theater, advanced technologies (like Artificial Intelligence) and more.

What does the 2025-2026 Education Calendar look like?

Our calendar is split into 6 sprints, with each culminating in a presentation day where Apogee leaders share their projects with Apogee parents and the community. Each sprint runs at slightly different intervals. Sprints are followed by a 1 week break so our learners can reset and spend time exploring their curiosity with their families. See attached for our tentative 2025-2026 Calendar.

What does a "Day in the Life" look like at the Apogee Bend campus?

Our days at Apogee Bend are designed to provide our Apogee leaders both focus and freedom. All of our primary "blocks" of the day - Projects, Socratic Discussions and Academics - are learner led. This means that our learners are driving that time, working at their own pace, with their peers. See attached for a sample schedule for the day. These are guidelines, not rules. For example, if the learners are in a deep Socratic discussion, don't expect a coach to jump in and tell them to stop.

What is a leader/learner driven classroom?

At Apogee Bend, we believe that curiosity and learning how to learn is critical to success. If kids are told what to do early and often, that curiosity and ability to learn is stifled. At Apogee Bend, we will coach, not tell. An important part of this is encouraging kids to take responsibility for their own behavior and hold those around them to a high standard. Our learners will learn how to research, solve problems and think independently. They won't turn to our coaches for the answers, they'll turn to their resourcefulness and each other. This creates a sense of independence and confidence that will serve them well in all areas of life.

What is a parents role at Apogee Bend?

Parents are critical to the success of our young Apogee leaders. Parents must understand that this model of education works only when education and home run in parallel. If you're looking to drop-off your kids and have limited capacity to be involved, Apogee Bend is not for you.

Parents sign a contract at the beginning of the year where they commit to invest in their children (and themselves) as Apogee Men and Women. As a benefit to enrolling in Apogee Bend, all parents have access to Apogee Man and Apogee Woman for FREE ($4K value). These programs are optional (but highly encouraged) 12-month intensive self development programs.

Is Apogee Bend a Private School in the State of Oregon?

No. Apogee Bend is a Private LLC. classified as an Educational Center for families. We offer a full-time education program for kids (i.e.; our Homeschool Co-Op) as well as several other family enrichment offerings. For more details, feel free to contact us today.
